There is no way around it. In this Instructable I will show you how I made my own press brake. There will be a 15 brake on 1 end to facilitate rapid tooling change for small projects and a press punch on the other.
If you are bottoming the tonnage is 3 to 5 times that of air forming and if you are coining the tonnage is 10 times or more. For the hobbyist maintenance shop light duty user and the do it yourselfers. They can be powered many different ways but by far the most popular method is some sort. Some of the iterations of this brake Ive seen only have an angle iron welded to the top punch to achieve the wedge shape or a 90 degree wedge shape but the result is that achieving a 90 degree bend is nearly impossible because of the flex-back of the material.
